Human Services and Public Health


Our current and recent projects and partners in human services and public health include:
Children's Aid Society

We are working with the Children's Aid Society (Clearfield, Pennsylvania) on the evaluation of a project designed to improve marriage and relationship skills among at-risk couples, as well as activities to promote economic stability and mobility through career advancement and improved financial literacy. This project is one of the Healthy Marriage and Relationship Education Grants nationwide funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

Pennsylvania Neglected and Delinquent Advisory Committee

We work with the Pennsylvania Neglected and Delinquent Advisory Committee to evaluate an annual leadership symposium for educators, social service providers, mental health practitioners, and administrators of agencies providing services to neglected and delinquent youth.

World Relief

We have worked with World Relief on several evaluations of projects in the Tampa Bay/Clearwater area that distribute funds to provide services to trafficking victims as well as funds to local police to investigate human trafficking cases.

We also completed a needs assessment and an evaluation for World Relief of a program designed to provide comprehensive services to victims of human trafficking in five cities in the southeastern United States.

Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence

We have worked with the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) on surveys and focus groups in support of a project that developed a mobile app designed to increase parent engagement in talking with their teens about healthy relationships and in reducing dating violence.

Clemson University

We have worked with Clemson University on a study of food consumption and nutrition among Hispanic immigrants to the U.S., and an evaluation of a healthy lifestyle education program for undergraduate students.

Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13

We have worked with Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13 on the evaluation of a three-year educational plan to provide Pennsylvania secondary school students with the knowledge and skills to make an informed decision about organ and tissue donation.

Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania

We have worked with the Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania on an evaluation of their tobacco prevention and cessation programs, which covered approximately one-third of the state of Pennsylvania. These included prevention programs in secondary schools and in local communities, and cessation programs offered by health care providers.
 
Pennsylvania Department of Health

We have worked with the Pennsylvania Department of Health on an annual process evaluation of their Community Planning Group's (CPG) annual planning effort for HIV/AIDS prevention programs.
 
North Central District AIDS Coalition

We have worked with the North Central District AIDS Coalition (Pennsylvania) on their regional needs assessments for the provision of health care and support services to individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS.
 
Penn State College of Nursing

We have done statistical analyses for research projects with faculty in the Penn State College of Nursing on elders, health care professionals, and HIV/AIDS populations.
